PWA Lanzarote part 2

Lanzarote has been on and off. I'm here for a few days now and the wind has been good for a couple of times, but not every day. We just had the opening ceremony of the hotel and tommorrow we have to register and if the wind is good enough we'll start with the competition.
Everyone rigged sails from 3.3 up to 5.6, the conditions can be choppy with 5.6 or mast high with 3.3. The forecast looks not promising considering waves. Hopefully we can do a nice competition with good wind and if the waves come we're lucky. For now hope for wind and see what will happen tommorrow.

PWA Lanzarote part 1

Hi everyone,

He...he... finally something to write about again. The 24th I will leave Holland again. I will go to Lanzarote where the second freestyle competition from the PWA takes place. I have about one week to get used to the conditions before the competition starts. The competition will be from 30th june untill the 3th of july. Than I will go back to Holland, work again and than off to Fuerteventura.
But first Lanzarote. As I saw the movies from last year I prepared myself with a few extra masts and a 3.5 sail. I never used a sail smaller than 4.0 so if I will use it, it will be hard and strange.
Stay tuned for action pictures, up to date info about the conditions and the competition.

Life in the Netherlands

It has been some time ago when I wrote my last blog update. The day after the PWA in Podersdorf we had really good wind. I was on 4.7 full power. Unfortunately that was after the competition.

Now a few weeks later I'm working full time to get enough money for Lanzarote and Fuerte. Its sad that the wind stays away. I sailed just a few times in 2 months. Not the best preparation for a worldcup.

Today we start with some lifestyle filming. As there is no wind again and the forecast keeps being bad you have to fill up time doing other things.

Here is a sequence from a double spock from last weekend. This was the best day in 2 months. I sailed with 4.7 and 98 Rodeo.

PWA Podersdorf part 4

A little late but here we go. After all days sitting on stand-by we still had one more day to go. Skippersmeeting was planned at 05.30 and the forecast was looking really bad, so a lot of people went partying and some hit there beds early because in Podersdorf you never know. Andddd.........yess. That morning I heared the noice of my tent again. The wind was pretty good so at 05.00 I went to the event area. The wind was enough and at 05.45 the last day we started the sinle elimination. I was in heat 4 so I had a bit more time to prepair. My heat went pretty good, but unfortunately we had to resail the heat. Also the second time there was not enough wind and we had to resail again. The third time went really bad for me, so I was unlucky and lost my heat. Later on the wind picked up a little and heat after heat was sailed. Maarten van Ochten did really well and became 5th. Also Davy "Mr. Scheffie / Dafke" Scheffers did really good allmost beating Steven van Broeckhoven. Steven managed to win from the world champion Gollito. He became second overall, congrats ;). Unfortunately there was not enough wind for a double elimination, so I could not climb higher in the ranking. Now up to Lanzarote! Hopefully I'll have some more luck there.

PWA Podersdorf part 3

Skippersmeeting at 06.00. A lot of people had a hard time waking up and coming to the event area, but allmost everybody was there. Unfortunately the wind was not good enough, so we couldn't start any heats. The days were filled with tow in freestyle behind the jetski, tow in on the ramp and relaxing and eating a lot.
Luckely John was allready at the water to take some pictures the day before when we had a short morning session. Some of you probably saw the live ticker on the PWA website, about my crib. Well this is my Crib. That's live. Having fun and having a small budget.
Adrian Beholz (G-888) also sails with Hotsails maui and F2. These are our sails.
Thrill-Seeker logo at the bottom of my brand new F2 98 Rodeo. Again the board is sick!
The first to nights in Podersdorf were all about PARTYY!!!! Was a lot of fun and crazy to.

PWA Podersdorf part 2

The PWA started with to begin a big party. After the riders presentation Podersdorf went crazy with a lot of people on the dancefloor. This morning I woke up because my tent was making a loud noice of the wind. I went straight to the water and had a pretty good morning session. Unfortunately the wind dropped really fast, so we couldn't start the first single elimination. Tommorrow we'll probably have a really early skippersmeeting around 06.00. So no party tonight. There are some pictures and more info at http://pwa-worldtour.com/index.php?id=1142

Keep you updated!

Bonaire part 6 end part

This is my last update from Bonaire for this year. I had a really good time. After one week in Curacao, were I sailed a little bit and also partied a lot, I went to Bonaire for 3 weeks. I sailed a lot and learned a lot of new things. I will try to make a nice movie, but I don't have a lot of variety in the moves I have on video, so for more variety you have to wait until I have finished my clip from Holland.

Some info:
It is always warm! I maybe wear jeans at night but just take some shorts, tees and maybe one sweater and one pair of jeans and you're good. Than you have more kilo's you can use for surf equipment.
In Curacao and Bonaire they mostly use the NAF. 1,75 NAF = 1 $. It's also no problem to pay with dollars. Everything can be pretty cheap. You can eat at the Chinese for 10 NAF. You get a portion you can eat from twice. If you go to the supermarket you can eat for less.
Hotels and appartments are pretty expensive. All the hotels and appartments are online. If you want something cheaper you can contact me. Especially if you stay longer than one week a hotel gets to expensive.

For renting equipment there are two places. Jibe City and Windsurfing place Bonaire. They both have the newest and best equipment avaiable. You can also stall your own equipment at those
places. Thanks to DJ from Jibe City. I stalled my equipment at Jibe City.

http://www.bonairewindsurfplace.com/

For those who don't know the spot. It is flat. You have chop in the middle section were it's a little deeper. You can't stand here. Than you have small chops in front of the rental places. In front of the mangroves on the other side it's super flat and also at the old judging tower. For both sides you have flat, big chop and small chop. You can even go to Lac. There you can sail in the waves.
Besides windsurfing Bonaire also is on of the best places to dive and snorkle. The well protected reef gives shelter to a lot of sea life. A lot of different fish, sea turtles, coral and other ocean life.
Bonaire also have a big history. The salt piles, pink lakes and a lot of other things show you something about Bonaires past.
