Christmas in Tarifa 2010 part 7

Sancti Petri is probibly the windiest place in south of Spain. Good wind almost every day. Also in the morning and as I stay in Tarifa we missed the morning session.
Check it out! The Patrik Diethelm freestyle 99 really got some junk in the thrunk.
Good session with Patrik diethelm freestyle 90 and the Hotsails Bolt 4.1. At the moment this pictures was taken there was no flat piece of water at all. That was a ahort period as the tide was changing.

Christmas in Tarifa 2010 part Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!!!!!!! from relatively warm Tarifa. Today was probably one of the warmest days. There were some waves, but my wavesurfing skills are not that good, but it was okay.
Last days we had a few good windsurfing sessions. Good freestyle, but also a lot of current at the spot.
My companion on the water. This time far away from the boat. The other time it was under the boat.

Christmas in Tarifa 2010 part 3

Tarifa has been quiet for two days but the wind returned. Yesterday we had a sick freestyle session. 4.7 full power, but there was a lot of current.
Today the wind looks more. I'm now to bussy taking my hot chocolate, but I think I will go for a wave session.
One of the crashes of yesterday. Going for the Kono, but sometimes you just go to far backwards.
The car and trailer. Ready to Rock n Roll! Allready used the trailer two times to Sylt and now to Tarifa and it keep surviving. Keep praying it will survive the ride back.
The new Bolt is super easy to duck. Sometimes it even goes to fast for me :P! What to do now?

Christmas in Tarifa 2010 the trip

The trips to Tarifa is a 3000km drive from my place. In combination with the trailer who can just handle a 100km/h we estimated it would take us 30 hour +. As we ca both drive it is easier to keep driving. Allthough we had our first stop in Biarritz. We stayed there untill 05.00 when we leaved in the direction of Tarifa again.
The road is pretty nice. I didn't saw much of France, as I was sleeping and we were driving true the night.
Spain looks really cool. During you drive you pass around a million orange trees and there are some cool mountain roads where you can not really drive faster than 50, but still cool.
At the end it took us little over 30 hours. So really nice, and with the sleep over in France it felt really good.
My Companion travelster!! She took the hardest driving peaces, as I was sleeping when we were around Paris and she was driving when we passes Madrid to. Crazy bussy cities.
And here is the view. No wind at the moment, but the forecast looks good. Lets see what kind of pictures we can get next time. Enjoy!

Christmas in Tarifa 2010

It's time to go somewhere again. This time not on the other side of the world flying almost 20 hours to windsurf there. This time I stay in Europe. It's time to discover Tarifa. But before I have to finish school work, prepare the car and trailer and pack all my stuff.
The days before a trip are mostly kind of hectic. You have to prepare and think of everything, making sure you're not forgetting important stuff. Luckily, mot of the time I'm pretty relaxed.
The trip will start tommorrow evening. We suppose to leave around 21.00 with a first stop somewhere around Biarritz. We'll probably stay there for the night and maybe have a surfing session.
After that we drive further to Tarifa, where we will stay for two weeks. I really hope the wind and the temperature is good. really looking forward to it, after a long cold time of no surfing.
So hopefully some nice surfing shots soon!

Whatsup Holland?

Yeah watsup? Not much! The wind started so sick last week but it all went really fast and after two days of wind it was allready over. What does Paul Zeper do? Well make some sketches for school and private ones, get myself some fresh clothing at Sparky and edit some pictures to upload on facebook.
Times changed a bit for me, now I'm bussy studying. I started skateboarding again and when I hit the water last week I noticed the skateboard skills came to place and windsurfing went better. Good no wind training! I'm also bussy with some nice projects, for windsurfing as well for my future as a graphic designer. We'll see how everything goes. Check out the pictures on the blog. Check out the wind. And have Fun!!!!!
Here I'm on my 90L Patrik Diethelm freestyle with 4.7 Hotsails Bolt!

This day I was sailing with 90L Patrik Diethelm Freestyle and 4.1 Hotsails Bolt!

PWA Sylt 2010 day 4 till 7

There is not much going on in Sylt. After two days of light / no wind the wind turned offshore. We finished one single ellimination freestyle and one round for the slalom guys. It seems like the wave guys will not go on the water as the forecast is not looking really promissing.
In stead everybody goes to bed for a few extra hours. Hit the computer and be on facebook whole day or do some other stuff.
Freestyle team Holland is ready and prepared to go for the double ellimination. Hopefully starting saterday or sunday.
Check out the new MB-fins. From left to right you first have the wave fins, freestyle, freeride/freemove and the slalom fins. I allready use the freestyle and wave fins. Only tested the freestyle but it's sick. Patrik Diethelm uses the slalom fins in competition.

PWA Sylt 2010 day 2 & 3

Starting with day two. It was a quiet day. There was no wind and we were on standbye the whole day. Meaning we had to wait untill the wind would pick up and we could start. But that didn't happen.
I Present to you, the MB-fins! This is the freestyle 18. Probably one of the most strange looking fins for freestyle, but they work the best. Try them yourself and you'll see.
Andre Paskowski was at the North/Fanatic tent signing posters.
Und was essen wir in Deutschland? Bratwurstennnnnnnn!!!! (translation :P:"And what do we eat in Germany? Bratwurstennnnnn!!!!!)
Day 3 started with a light wind, kind off the same as day 2 but as the day went by the wind picked up and we started. I was in heat one and I was in form. I used my new Patrik Diethelm freestyle 99 and Hotsails Bolt 5.3. It was just enough and I managed to win the first heat. Heat two the wind dropped completely and I was far away from landing all my moves. Unfortunately this heat was not cancelled, and I lost.
In the North/Fanatic tent the guys are painting, why?? The will sell the painting and the money will go to Pakistan.

This is Paul Griffiths. Not well known from the pictures but this is the guy who writes all the reports on the PWA website and also the live ticker. Paul from the fishe-eye point of view.

PWA Sylt 2010 day 1

Day one in Sylt was a quiet day. No wind, but a nice swell. In the morning it looked like the slalom guys would hit the water to compete, but the wind died during the day so they couldn't compete. During the day a lot of guys went on the water with surfboards and SUP surf the pretty nice waves that hit the German shore.
For the guys that did not know yet. From now I will use Patrik Diethelm boards. I now have a 78 trailer wave and a 99 freestyle. Contact me if you're in Holland and you can try them.
John Carter was at the shore to take some nice pictures from the life on Sylt and the sailors that were on the SUP's and waveboards.
These are the ones I will use for training. The left one is the 99 freestyle I will use in the competitions. The right one is the 76 Patrik diethelm trailer wave. I will do some more wavesailing and this will be the board that keeps me going as hard as possible!
I was not the only one that took my gear. All the competitors are well prepared and didn't leaf anything at home. Resulting in a tent that can not be fuller with equipment. Smalle detail! The slalom gear is not included in the tent!

The new Hotsails maui Bolt 2011

There were some troubles with getting them but they are finally there. The new 2011 Bolt. For this year the Bolt will also be in the sizes 3.4 and 3.7. As some use them in Pozo conditions. I also use the Bolt in all sizes. Only my smalles one is 3.7. The pictures are made with a fish-eye so the shape is wrong on the first two pictures.
4.1 3.7
To see what changed I rigged the 2010 4.7 and the 2011 4.7. For 2011 the sail changed a lot. The red one is 2011 the blue one 2010.
The first thing that you notice is the foot batten.
It still crosses the boom, but for 2011 it passes the clew a little bit.
The second thing and for me one of the most important things is the top of the sail. For this year the top is lighter. Also the sail has more luff curve, causing the third batten from below to get tighter away from the mast. This makes the top of the sail flatter and when you have a flatter top the sail will duck easier.
More testing results soon, when I tried it in the water.

The Wind Experience part 2

Part two of my wind experience. Just some more photo's and as I'm now studying graphic design i kind off twisted the photos a little bit, with changing colours and contrast. Check it out!
